What is 'pork barrell' spending, I why is Mccain obsessed with it?

is that his senior meal plan at the old country buffetWhat is 'pork barrell' spending, I why is Mccain obsessed with it?
Pork barrel spending is spending that is there only to get votes for a specific politician.

An example of this would be a golf course in a district where a politician is up for re-election.
All that money for boarder fencing. What is 'pork barrell' spending, I why is Mccain obsessed with it?
He likes to bring home the bacon?
No, it's tacking things like infrastructure building grants for individual states on to a bill that will likely be passed into law... it costs taxpayers billions of dollars a year...What is 'pork barrell' spending, I why is Mccain obsessed with it?
He'll just mess up whatever he touches like Campaign finance reform and immigration reform.
Isn't that where they roll you over the barrel and you get porked?
Its where a congressmen tacks on a special project to a bill they know will pass muster.
It is when lawmakers slip "pet projects" for their own districts into bills being introduced for consideration. The "pet projects" generally are awarded federal funding for some sort of local building or beautification project.

McCain says he is trying to do away with the practice. It is a huge waste of public tax dollars which could better be spent paying down the deficit, among other things.
McCane is a senile old wind passer who does not even remember his correct age. He never ever be a president of anything, he is a big joke.
Why should we have to pay for things not discussed and voted on by our elected officials?

Why should we have to 'add in extra items' on a bill to get it passed? If it wont survive on its own merits?

Not an expert, but If I want to buy a car... I do not 'accept' things being added onto my bill after I sign the contract.
Pork Barrel spending is spending that gets attached to the back of bills when the pass through the Senate and House of Reps. Senators and Congressmen attach spending legislation to the back of bills. Usually this "pork" is in the intrest of the Senators/Congressmen who add it onto the bill. Sometimes it's tied to lobbyists and other times it benefits the Senator/Congressmens state or district. The reason why McCain is obsessed with it is because it's a lot of needless spending on projects that we usually don't need and it's never voted on in the Senate or Congress. It's just attached to the back of bills when it passes through and nobody does anything about it.
It's the extra million and billion dollar expenses Congressmen tack onto bills needlessly in their states, usually.

It costs taxpayers more money, of course.
its anything at all BUT WAR MONEY FOR IRAQ!!!so yes its a buffet for sure...chow F.P
It is when Congress inserts a project for a specific district or state. For example, a cheese museum in WI. It is a project that is fat on the budget (thus the name pork).

It angers Americans because it is money not needed to be spent to make the representative look good to try and win reelection.

McCain is obsessed with these because it makes him look like he is responsible with our money.
Its a way politicians throw us poor souls a bone or two from their banquet tables. And its a way politicians get themselves re-elected by saying hey look at all the little doggie bones ive thrown to you arent i good master!! Now be a good boy and roll over and go fetch my newspaper!!
The slogan "pork barrel spending" represents the funding of unbelievable ridicules items that if they were voted on by themselves would not pass congress. Usually the "Pork" is tied onto bills that are decent and/or needed. Therefore if the bill is to be passed it has to have the attachments with it. One of the largest receivers is Alaska where Sen. Ted Stevens

(R) manages to scalp the taxpayers earning him as one of the highest "Pork Barrelers" of all times.
