How can we coordinate with civic org., churches, to keep from throwing out food to feed to poor in our area?

Each day good food gets thrown out by restaurants that could feed the poor, elderly, %26amp; children. How can we help restaurants, poor, elderly, %26amp; children to meet a need. Because of food regulations buffets and or food cooked after 8 minutes must be disposed of and cannot be sold. Think of all the food wasted - think of all the people who do not have at least 1 hot nutrious meal a day. Not just in foreign countries, but right here in the richest Country in the world. It's a tragedy! Any suggestions how we can turn it around? How can we coordinate with civic org., churches, to keep from throwing out food to feed to poor in our area?
I am sorry to say that it probably never will. I will lest pros and one Con to support my argument...

Pros

1. the food wasted will be put to good use.

2. by feeding the hungry.

3. shows good will towards the needy in our own country.

4. might (a very big might) motivate the needy to get jobs. (likely it would do the opposite but I included it for hopes sake)

Pro

1. Some one will get sick, and sue the Government, win and make money.

This is the number one, and biggest dilemma, some one will screw someone and it will actually screw all those who really needed it.

I applaud your intentions. But it will be laid to "waste" by greedy people. How can we coordinate with civic org., churches, to keep from throwing out food to feed to poor in our area?
Imagine all the lawsuits,as the needy blame the food for every illness.Lawyers would love it.
