Why do people gorge themselves when they are at restaurants like Claim Jumper?

Granted this is a free country and you are welcome to do whatever you like but do see some godly portions of food they serve. Is there line between satisfaction and gluttony? For me, one order can equal three meals for me. Also at buffet lines, why do people act like its their last meal? Why do people gorge themselves when they are at restaurants like Claim Jumper?
I love Claim Jumpers but I would have to fast or watch myself 2 to 3 days before going to dinner there, so I could have a feast.

As for buffet lines, isn't it true the more you see the more you want and the more confused you get and the bigger eyes you have? Hence, a lot of portions on your plate.

Now, when you say "why do people act like it's their last meal?" do you mean the way they are scarfing it down, or their lack of manners? Or just how much is on their plate?

Gluttony is on the rise, and sin it is. Me guilty too.
what's claim jumper? Why do people gorge themselves when they are at restaurants like Claim Jumper?
Good question.
It all stems from the "clean plate rule" that parents often teach kids.

They can't have dessert, leave the table, have seconds of something until their plate is "clean".

So, naturally, when we see hordes of food on a plate (like at Claim Jumper) we feel compelled to "clean" the plate. Why do people gorge themselves when they are at restaurants like Claim Jumper?
People just want to make sure they get their money's worth. But you are right, some people just gorge themselves at a buffet. Did you know that buffet stands for, Bunch Ugly Fat F---ers Eating Together. That kind of says it all, doesn't it?
