What is the logic behind keeping a cold temperature at a buffet restaurant?

Do they do this on purpose? I have gone to Old Country Buffet, and its always cold. What is the logic behind keeping a cold temperature at a buffet restaurant?
There could be 2 reasons behind the coldness of any restaurant ...

1. If you are uncomfortably cold you won't stay as long, and at a buffet that will save them money in food costs. You pay the same either way.

2. I seem to remember when I was a kid people asking why the cafeteria was so cold, and a teacher responded that germs don't travel well in the cold.

I hope this helps.
it keeps the food fresh ! What is the logic behind keeping a cold temperature at a buffet restaurant?
It helps to keep the food edible.
I don't know what the logic is, but you should complain to the manager. If you and other customers complain, he'll probably do something about it not wanting to lose customers. It could have something to do with the crazy heating/cooling systems being installed nowadays. It seems like the heat comes on and when the temperature in the restaurant is just getting comfortable, the air kicks on and cools it right back down (even in the middle of winter). Ask to be seated where you won't be directly below a vent. What is the logic behind keeping a cold temperature at a buffet restaurant?
I always HEARD but dont know for sure that restaurants are kept cool because if you are cold you will eat more. I have no idea how true it is.
