Is it really necessary to leave a tip at Old Country Buffet?

Since we get our own food and drinks, is it the customer's responsibility to pay for the people that clean the tables?

I was under the impression that buffets, pizza places, sandwich shops and other eateries where we go to the counter (or buffet line) for our own food are strictly "tip optional".Is it really necessary to leave a tip at Old Country Buffet?
If they remove dirty plates while you are eating or perform any other type of service that personally helps you, then leave a dollar per person at your table. If the dirty dishes stack up, then don't worry about leaving a tip.
It's never "necessary" to tip anyone.

Just look at the person who is doing the dirty work, and ask yourself if they could make better use of that dollar or two than you would. In most cases the answer will be yes, so give it up.Is it really necessary to leave a tip at Old Country Buffet?
If you have a waitress/waiter.....leave at tip.
i cant believe that there are people who dont tip. dont you have any sense of anthing but yourself. we all like to eat out, and we like the low prices brought on by a tipping industry, and food service workers work hard for you, you ingrate. tip the people or stay homeIs it really necessary to leave a tip at Old Country Buffet?
I don't know if this is right, but I never do. Sure, they are cleaning up, and you might wanna leave like, 2 bucks or something....but I don't, because they don't really do anything.
clean your own table.put plates on the bus cart .then no tip. i wont tip at buffet.either
They are "tip optional" but getting that couple bucks every once in awhile makes their day. Trust me I know I use to be one of them.
You don't have to tip the normal 15-20% at OCB, but you should leave $2 or 3 for the person who clears the tables (depending on how many people there are at the table).
